UPM

A circular solution for paper machine clothing

UPM Communication Papers, ANDRITZ and HolyPoly have developed Europe’s first industrial-scale recycling system for paper machine clothing (PMC), including forming fabrics and felts. Used fabrics and felts are collected, processed and converted into high-quality granulate that can replace fossil-based plastics. Each tonne recycled is estimated to save three tonnes of carbon dioxide. The programme, launched at the beginning of 2025, is already in operation at six UPM production sites. The aim is to fully replace fossil raw materials in paper machine clothing through recycling.
