Wood can be used in countless ways

The forest industry develops products and solutions made from renewable raw materials that are a key part of the circular economy and the bioeconomy. These products can replace many alternatives made from fossil-based raw materials.

Over the past decade, the forest industry has significantly expanded its product portfolio. Building on traditional products such as pulp, paper, paperboard and sawn timber, the industry has developed a wide range of new solutions. Innovations have emerged in areas including fibre-based packaging materials, textiles, bio-based chemicals, bioplastics and construction products. The sector’s strong innovation activity also extends to the development of production processes and the efficient utilisation of side streams.
