Relying packaging in a daily life

The demand for biobased packaging is on the rise due to the increasing trend of replacing plastic, the global growth of e-commerce, and the prevalence of pickup culture. Most packaging made from fossil-based raw materials can already be substituted with wood-based alternatives. Wood-based solutions enhance recyclability, reduce the carbon footprint of products, and diminish the presence of microplastics.

Currently, food packaging can be entirely crafted from wood. For instance, cardboard can be coated with a biomaterial layer derived from pine oil, allowing the storage of liquid products.

Wood proves to be a functional, aesthetic, and safe material for packaging and labels. In addition to wooden and cardboard packaging, wood composite packages have emerged, constructed from recyclable wood fibers and natural binders.
